Whilst I have always been an illustrator, painter, and poet, my early career was in botanical science and agronomy, and working in developing countries creating sustainable food production.
Upon returning from overseas, I studied for a BA with Honours in Fine Art, and upon completion of my studies became a Buddhist monk for a few years, studying Buddhist philosophy, then started training as a Bard. A more formal art practice began in 2012, and in 2016 I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts.
Midnight in the garden of earthly delights
The paintings pay homage to The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch, and as one 20th Century art historian describes it; an “erotic derangement that turns us all into voyeurs, a place filled with the intoxicating air of perfect liberty”. This series of paintings also explore more the ‘craft’ of painting, the relationship of colour and form to produce an image with a more illustrative characteristic.
